Witness a fascinating elephants’ talent show, then ride on an elephant’s back into the surrounding hilly landscape. A relaxing bamboo rafting experience along the rustic Mae Taeng River completes this memorable day.

This pleasant trip takes you about 50km north of the city centre to Mae Taeng area. You will visit an elephant camp and watch these giant beasts baht in the river and perform a string of shows, including logging wood at the command of their mahouts. Enjoy a one-hour scenic ride on the back of an elephant into the forest. You've got to "swing with the sway" as you rumble and thrash along…so hang on tight but worry not, as elephants are very sure-footed animals. Then experience a 15 minutes ox-cart ride back to the camp, where a picnic lunch is served under the cool jungle shade. After lunch, enjoy a one-hour "Huckleberry Finn" bamboo rafting trip along the placid Mae Taeng river, visit an Orchid Nursery Farm filled with exotic orchid blooms, stroll in a lovely butterfly garden and return to Chiangmai. |
