The Night Bazaar Nightlife
What to Do at Night in The Night Bazaar
This is an area that comes to life when the sun goes down. During the day you will be hard pushed to experience the energy and sheer vibrancy that emerges with the setting up of the stalls and consequent crowds of people. Like the goods on sale at the Night Bazaar, the nightlife is varied. If you walk away from the crowds on the Chang Klan Road down towards the Loi Kroh you will come across Guitar Man, a Chiang Mai institution. Opposite this bar on Jarean Phatet Road there is a chilled out Rasta bar and few beer bars.
For something more upbeat the Kalare Food Court has nightly lady boy cabarets and Muay Thai fights (remove, on). Further up the Chang Klan Road, past the markets as you approach the Chiang Mai City area there is a high concentration of popular bars, with the area geared towards drinking and dancing. There are also a few pubs around the Night Bazaar area, perfect for stopping and having a mid shopping drink or resting in while someone else wants to shop.
Dusit Mix Bar at Dusit D2
Probably the trendiest bar in Chiang Mai. The Mix Bar takes on the ultra-modern Dusit Thani’s conceptual style with plush seating, interesting lighting and a huge selection of drinks, particularly cocktails. Situated in the lobby of the hotel, the interior is punctuated by straight architectural lines making it an attractive choice to enjoy a drink in light and airy surroundings.
Opening Hours: 11:00-01:00Address: 100 Chang Klan Road

Foxy Lady A Go Go
Foxy Lady is much bigger than Spotlight A Go Go, the other Go Go bar near Tha Pae gate, and located in the Nigh Bazaar behind the Dusit D2 Hotel. Girls are clearly younger and prettier here, maybe because prices are a bit higher, with a beer starting at 125 Baht. The place features 2 levels, but the second floor doesn't seem to used much. Stage is small and can only accommodate 4 to 5 girls. Entry is free, but there is no show here either.
Location: behind Dusit D2
Guitar Man
A cosy place where you can listen to good music, chat with friends or make new ones. Anyone is welcome to play music or sing in a relaxed atmosphere drawing a regular crowd including tourists and backpackers. The walls are adorned with prints and photographs of famous rockers including The Rolling Stones, The Who and Led Zeppelin which sums up the bar's way of thinking, Rock and Roll Chiang Mai style.
Opening Hours: 15:00-01:00Address: 68/5-6 Loi Kroh Road

Kalare Food Court
From 19:30 musicians entertain with renditions of traditional northern Thai music while women accompany them on stage to dance in traditional outfits from different northern Thai ethnic groups. On the other side of the Kalare food court you can watch Muay Thai boxing before progressing onto something more elaborate in the form of an all singing and dancing lady boy cabaret, essential viewing for any of Thailand’s visitors.
Opening Hours: 17:00-23:00Address: Chang Klan Road
Night Bazaar Bar
A good place to come and have a drink mid-shop or before you tackle the Night Bazaar, Reasonably priced drinks are well paired with the bar's location on the fringe of Kalare Market making it a good place to relax away from the crowds.
O'Malleys
O’Malley’s, is what you might to expect from an Irish pub; entertaining and friendly with a lively crowd and streams of Guinness. With its extensive selection of beers and spirits and friendly wait staff this as a popular drinking spot with Chiang Mai’s visitors.

Rasta Bar
The newest addition to the Chiang Mai Rasta bar collective, situated behind Guitar Man if the rock and blues from there isn’t hitting the spot then this is the place to come for some chilled out reggae beats and a game of pool, drinks are reasonably priced with big bottles of Singha going on sale for 120 baht.
Opening Hours: 12:00-00:00Address: Jarean Phatet Road
The Red Lion
Featuring both an air conditioned bar and open air terrace, The Red Lion is a long time favourite with drinkers in Chiang Mai. Situated opposite the car park of McDonalds, the terrace over looks the night market which is a pleasant alternative if you don’t fancy watching the live sports on offer. A pint of Heineken is just 100 baht while other beers on offer include Singha, Chang, Tiger, Strongbow Cider and draught Guinness and Kilkenny.
