This full-day tour invites you to trace the history and natural beauty along the Golden Triangle’s trail, then delve into the riches along the banks of the Mekong at Chiang Saen – the birthplace of the ancient Lanna civilisation. Once a land filled with endless poppy fields, the Golden Triangle has put its past behind and reincarnated as a tourist hotspot, with a scenic backdrop overlooking the confluence of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers as well as the rolling hills of Burma and Laos.

Immerse yourself in the rhythm modern Chiang Rai while enjoying a pleasant stroll at the bustling Mae Sai market, with an influx of goods from across the borders, stopping en-route at the Yao and Akha hill-tribe villages to learn about their fascinating cultures. Then, travel back in time and explore the grounds of historic Chiang Saen, peppered with temple ruins and monuments from the early days of Lanna.

A trip by road along a scenic route, driving through undulating hills and valleys, emerald green woods, quaint small towns and picturesque villages. A break is made at a hot spring in Mae Kachan district. Proceed on to the town ( and province ) of Chiangrai.

Then, visit and explore the Yao and Akha hilltribe villages and see their quaint, unique costumes. Each tribe has its own culture, customs, traditions and dialect. Drive further on to Mae Sai, a bustling border town with Myanmar and the northern most point of Thailand. Shop around for some Myanmar goodies. Then have lunch at a local restaurant.

Proceed to the world-renowned Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet at the confluence of the mighty Mekhong river. A superb view of the river and surrounding three countries can be seen. Visit the ancient town of Chiang Saen, the very first kingdom in Thailand situated on the banks of the Mekhong river and explore its archeological remains. Drive back to Chiangmai.
