a bit gentler than Thai massage, focusing on deep tissue areas
and employing specially blended oils. Many massage parlours
combine aromatherapy with oil massage to provide a sense-soothing
experience.
Especially popular in Chiang Mai is reflexology, a variation
on Thai techniques. The theory behind reflexology is the idea
that all parts of the body have corresponding pressure points
in the hands and feet. By re-aligning the energy centres in
the extremities the reflexology brings healing and harmony
to the entire body. Many agree that the best foot massage
in Chiang Mai can be found on the side streets of the weekend
market.
Whichever technique you prefer you're sure to find plenty
of places to get a great massage in Chiang Mai, especially
around the tourist areas such as Tha Phae Gate and Loi Khro
Road. Although many people associate massage parlours with
sleaziness, don't be discouraged. The vast majority of Chiang
Mai massage parlours are completely legitimate and offer nothing
more than a relaxing and rejuvenating healing experience.

can last up to three months
